AutumnTerm Workshops 2018

I teach a range of workshops at my home in Southbourne or at St Peter's Place, the bright new hall for the church of St Peter and St Mary at Fishbourne near Chichester. Wherever workshops are held, the emphasis is on learning in a happy, relaxed environment, making the techniques taught accessible to beginners as well as those with some experience.

Larger events, alternative dates, or teaching of individuals can be arranged at other locations if required. You are very welcome to contact me to discuss your requirements.

Daytime workshops are priced according to length and venue - prices are shown below. Tea, coffee and a home made cake are always provided, please bring along a packed lunch if you're coming for the day to Fishbourne.

Evening workshops and Block of the Month classes are payable termly (see prices below) and include drinks and cake.

Unless otherwise instructed, participants should bring their own sewing machine, ensuring the machine has an up to date PAT test (this test can often be done very quickly at your local sewing machine shop). Most techniques can be taught by hand, but a sewing machine will speed up the process.

Fabric requirements will be sent on confirmation of booking.

Please scroll to the bottom of this page for booking terms and conditions.

Block On!

Thursdays   0930-1230   Fishbourne

Autumn Term

6th September, 4th October, 1st November, 6th December

£48 term

A relaxed and friendly sewing class for anybody wanting to come and work on their own projects in good company and with guidance where needed.

These classes are currently full, please let me know if you'd like to be added to the waiting list for a place

Origami Market Bags

Thursday 20th September  10am-3pm   Fishbourne  £35

Using a Japanese origami technique, you can produce these two styles of Bento bag in one day.

The folding technique is easy to get to grips with, so you can take home one roomy shopper and a small storage bag - I use my small Bentos for picnics, but you can use them just as well for storing and transporting your craft projects.

Interleaving

Thursday 18th October  10am-3pm   Fishbourne   £35

This is an eye-catching quilt-as-you-go technique using thin strips of fabric to create the illusion of curves without the need for curved piecing.

Once you've learned the technique you'll find there are many stunning patterns you can create and use for quilts or other projects.

Quillow for Christmas in a Day

Thursday 15th November  9.30am - 4.30pm  Fishbourne  £40

A quillow is a quilt that can be folded into a pillow. It's a lovely gift for anyone, so why not come along and learn to make one for somebody you love in time for Christmas.

You'll learn everything you need to know, from assembling your quilt, to basting, quilting and binding it, and attaching the cushion front so that the whole thing turns into a pillow.

Once the quilt is opened, the cushion front makes a cosy pocket to tuck feet into!

This quillow measures approx 38" square, so it's just the right size for a child, or a lap quilt for an adult.

One Block Wonderful! - Sewing Retreat 2018

Saturday 24th November 9.30am - Sunday 25th November 4pm   £125

Following the success of last year's retreat at Chidham, here's another opportunity to enjoy 2 days aboard the lovely TS Resolute and get to grips with a new project. This time I'll be teaching One Block Wonders - an image will follow, but just Google One Block Wonder Quilts if you'd like to see the kind of thing we'll be making.

The weekend is full board, and includes accommodation in single occupancy en-suite cabins aboard the barge moored at Chidham.

Please email for further details if you are interested.

Maximum of 8 spaces

I also teach Patchwork Quilt Courses and one day classes at the lovely Clothkits shop in Chichester.

Autumn term workshops at Clothkits include a Sampler Quilt and a one day "Crash Course" in Patchwork and Quilting. There's also the opportunity to join a weekly group for those wishing to work on individual projects under guidance in company.
